El Calafate - The End of the World

When we landed on El Calafate, we couldn't believe the colours of the land. The most beautiful colour palette we've ever seen: browns, ochres, greens, the milky turquoise rivers running through and all imaginable shades of blue, all surrounded by dark peaks and bright snowy mountains. It really feels like the end of the world, an almost deserted landscape of a vast steppe. We were overwhelmed by the grandiosity of the Upsala, Spegazzini and Perito Moreno glaciers -the latter particularly breathtaking. It's the magnitude, the alien landscape and the colossal power of raw nature. We felt like tiny little ants listening to its creaking and watching building-sized chunks of ice breaking and falling in slow motion. To top it up, we did a mini-trekking which ended with a whisky on the glacier rocks (while standing on the glacier rock) to warm ourselves up. We wish we could have stayed longer in Patagonia. We will be back.
